Scouts to Host Over 500 Local Band Students

The Madison Scouts are excited to announce that over 500 area high school band members will be attending The Whitewater Classic free of charge via a newly established grant program from Forward Performing Arts.

“One of our clearly stated mission objectives is service to the marching arts community in the state of Wisconsin,” stated Programs Director David Lofy. “After discussions with local band directors, it was evident that access and opportunity to see marching arts events at the highest caliber is an incredibly valuable tool in generating interest and aspiration for young band students.”

“We are excited to provide the opportunity to see a Drum Corps International event as part of our mission fulfillment,” said Executive Director Chris Komnick. “We reached out to all the band programs within a 100 mile radius of Whitewater and provided them the opportunity. The response was excellent and we expect close to 600 students and educators to attend The Whitewater Classic as our guests!”

The Whitewater Classic will be held at Perkins Stadium on the University of Wisconsin Whitewater campus on Saturday, July 16 at 6:30 p.m. The lineup includes SoundSport groups Chops and Green Beret Marching Band followed by World Class groups including the Colts, Phantom Regiment, Blue Stars, The Cavaliers, Bluecoats, and the Madison Scouts.
