The Madison Scouts are pleased to announce that Chris Komnick is joining its administrative team in the role of Executive Director, a move that will enable Jeff Spanos to focus his efforts in the newly created role of Development Director. Chris has been working closely with the corps since the fall of 2006 in an advisory capacity and has served on the Board of Directors since the fall of 2007. He will be volunteering his time to focus on the specific areas of fiscal management, branding & marketing and general oversight for all operations. Spanos will now focus on educational outreach, development of corporate sponsorships and extending the Madison Scouts' mission."I am very excited to work with Chris in this structure," said Spanos. "I asked the board to help develop a solution that would enable me to focus on a few key growth areas for the organization and I am pleased that Chris offered his time and expertise. Chris has been a trusted adviser, a mentor and close friend to me since we met marching in the 2006 Alumni Reunion Corps. We have been working closely on the corps for over two years, he fully understands the dynamics of this organization and the activity."In addition to serving on the board, Chris has been responsible for the Madison Corps patron program which saw a year-over-year increase of over 100% in donations to the organization. As well, he initiated a new product promotion program and was responsible for much of the corps' branding in 2008. Chris is a founder and partner in REDMARK (formerly BrandingTree), a business and branding consultancy. A successful entrepreneur, he has over 20 years experience in the creation and building of several businesses throughout that tenure. He is an alumnus of the Madison Scouts and holds a BS from Purdue University and an MBA in Marketing from Miami University. As part of this transition, the Scouts have streamlined their physical facilities and have new points of contact. "The Scouts are a geographically diverse organization in terms of staff and administration." said Komnick. "We are reducing our physical footprint to warehouse facilities and investing in virtual communication tools to make ourselves more efficient. However, we recognize the value in growing our presence in the Madison community and will continue to do so through our educational outreach and corps performances such as Madisonic and Drums on Parade."The Scouts new contact information is:Madison Scouts Drum & Bugle Corps2935 S Fish Hatchery Road, #401Madison, WI 53711(888) 491-8826www.MadisonScouts.orgwww.MadisonGear.com
