Rockin' for a Cure Set for April 21st

One of the most inspired drum corps alumni events anywhere is the annual “Rockin’ for a Cure,” now in its twelfth year. This gathering not only brings together Madison Scouts alumni, corps fans and other supporters for a great time of music and camaraderie...the event is also a benefit for ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, more commonly known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease). In 1999, former corps member and Scouts’ instructor Steve Weekes was stricken with ALS. He founded the first of the corps’ benefits on behalf of ALS research. Sadly, Steve passed away in 2005. However, his mission continues on, stronger than ever. This year’s event will be held Saturday, April 21st at 6:30 p.m. at the Holiday Inn West in Madison. Tickets are $20 and there will be a cash bar, appetizers, and a giant silent auction with plenty of drum corps items donated by many corps. Prizes also include a mountain bike and tickets for Drums on Parade and the 2012 DCI Championship.Entertainment includes The Soul Brothers - a band of Scouts alumni that performs a variety of high velocity R&B hits. Also performing is the horn line of the Kilties from Racine, WI.For more information, call 414-704-0209 or visit the event website at www.rockinforacure.org or visit them on FACEBOOK.Location: Holiday Inn Madison West, 1109 Fourier Drive, Madison, WI 53717For discounted hotel reservations, please call 1-800-315-2621.
