Madison Scouts Present “Installation 85”

Installation 85 draws its inspiration from the modern art installation movement, which has been characterized by immersive, larger-than-life works of art and design. The Scouts field installation captures a mid-’80s/’90s aesthetic, which is seen revived in today’s popular culture. The 2022 Madison Scouts, the titular 85th edition of the corps, explore the exhibit and eventually become a part of the installation.

Madison Scouts composer and arranger Daniel Montoya Jr. crafts a familiar soundtrack drawing on repertoire from the 1980’s all the way to today, in addition to his own original composition to conclude the show.

The Installation 85 source material includes:

  • Rubric - Phillip Glass/Tyondai Braxton
  • Love on a Real Train - Tangerine Dream
  • Bangkok - Steve Vai
  • Star-Crossed - Dolan Sipes
  • As the World Caves - Sarah Cothran
  • 34 Klezma - Snarky Puppy
  • Original Composition - Daniel Montoya Jr.

“Our goal is to transform the field into a fully immersive entertainment experience for both our audience and our membership,” says Program Coordinator Jason Robb. “As the show begins the members enter into an art installation and by the end of the production, they themselves become the installation.”

The Madison Scouts will begin their season at the Drums on Parade home show at the Bank of Sun Prairie Stadium on July, 2nd.
