October 23, 2008 – Madison, WI – The Madison Scouts announce that the following individuals have been named as caption heads for the 2009 season:Nick Williams – Brass Charlotte Morrow – Color Guard Brad Meyer – Front Ensemble Roger Carter – Percussion Neil Adkison – Visual"While we had some difficult farewells this off-season, we are excited about the new chemistry and experiences of the 2009 team," says Corps Director Dann Petersen. "We have assembled a group that can continue the educational mission of the Scouts while advancing the programmatic aspects of our field show."Roger Carter returns for his third year as percussion arranger and caption head, while Nick Williams will start his second year as brass caption supervisor. Brad Meyer, a two-year staff member, takes over the front ensemble caption head position from Andy Bliss, who resigned to focus on his performance career."Brad has been a fundamental presence in building our front ensemble program over the past two years," says Petersen. "While we are saddened to see Andy leave, we are confident that Brad is the right person to continue building this program."Charlotte Morrow brings a wealth of color guard experience to the Scouts, having been a performer with Northern Lights, the Blue Devils and blast!. Her teaching experience includes the Seattle Cascades and Northern Lights, and she has taught alongside Scouts Choreographer JC Caceres and Caption Supervisor Tracy Wooton."Charlotte's teaching experience with JC and Tracy will enable us to rapidly implement a system that can take our guard program to new levels," said Executive Director Jeff Spanos. "Our guard made strong progress last season, but it needs to go further. We believe this staff can help make the Scouts guard a premier program in the activity."Neil Adkison joins the Scouts as the visual caption head after teaching on the Carolina Crown visual team last year. Neil has also taught visual for the Santa Clara Vanguard and the Blue Devils B corps, where he was teamed with Scouts visual designer Ken Karlin. "Neil's experience with Ken Karlin and Nick Williams was an important consideration," says Spanos. "Having educational philosophies aligned and consistent amongst the different teams is critical to our success."The design of the Scouts 2009 production, "El Relámpago," is fully underway and led by Program Coordinator Ramiro Barrera.
