As an extension of its educational mission, the Madison Scouts announce an internship program designed to give music education and business students an opportunity to get firsthand experience working with the Madison Scouts drum & bugle corps. "We have renewed our focus on the educational components of the organization," stated Executive Director Jeff Spanos. "Our internship program will offer the opportunity to work directly with our world-class staff and provide a real-world experience that will be invaluable to the students involved."For the 2009 season, the Scouts interns will include Larry McCrobie in corps administration under the direction of Dann Petersen; and Will Ehrhardt and Alex Brough working with the horn line under the direction of Nick Williams. All three interns will work with the corps throughout the spring and during the 2009 summer tour.Larry McCrobie is a graduate of the International Academy of Design and also studied costume manufacturing and design at the Art Institute of Denver. Larry has marched with the Cincinnati Glory drum and bugle corps and is currently an active color guard and visual judge in the midwest band circuits. Will Ehrhardt was a 5-year member of the Madison Scouts, having played trumpet through the 2008 season. He is currently an undergraduate student in Music Education at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Alex Brough is currently studying Music Education at The Ohio State University. He marched with the Madison Scouts for three seasons, aging out in 2008."We are pleased to have Larry, Will and Alex join our staff for the 2009 season," said Dann Petersen, corps director. "The Madison Scouts organization provides educational opportunities to both learn and develop life skills. Our interns will gain valuable experiences that they can utilize in their own careers. This is another example of extending the values of our mission to more than just the membership".
