Madison Scouts Announce Visual Education Leadership for 2026 Season

The Madison Scouts are proud to announce the return of Blake Daughtrey as Visual Caption Supervisor, joined by alumni Andrew Desmond and Taylor Rock as Visual Co-Caption Heads.

Program Coordinator Mark Waymire shared, “Blake, Andrew, and Taylor combine diverse experiences with a real passion for helping members develop their skills, confidence, and performance presence. They share the same vision and purpose as the rest of our staff, forming a strong and unified team. I’ve worked with many outstanding visual educators, and I couldn’t be more confident or excited about the group we’ve assembled.”

Blake Daughtrey – Visual Caption Supervisor

Blake Daughtrey brings a wealth of experience and enthusiasm to his role as Visual Caption Supervisor. Currently serving as General Manager at Highland Brewing Company in Asheville, NC, Blake has honed his leadership skills across multiple organizational settings.

His drum corps journey began with Carolina Crown (2005–2010) as a mellophone and drum major. Blake joined the Madison Scouts visual staff in 2012, serving as Caption Head from 2013–2016, before leading the Crossmen visual program (2017–2020) as a designer and choreographer.

Returning to Madison, Blake is eager to build on the corps’ legacy of excellence. “I’m incredibly excited to return to the Madison Scouts in the role of Visual Supervisor,” said Daughtrey. “We’re assembling a team not only filled with great educators, but individuals with a deep understanding and connection to the organization. Under the leadership of two alumni, Andrew and Taylor, the visual program will be rooted in excellence and identity—on and off the field.”

Andrew Desmond – Visual Co-Caption Head

Andrew Desmond currently serves as Assistant Band Director at Lakota East High School in Liberty Township, OH. Since 2022, he has directed freshman bands, assisted with the main campus ensembles, and co-directed the marching band. His prior teaching experience includes Milford High School (OH) and Lake Oswego High School (OR).

A Madison Scouts alumnus (2013–2014) on tuba and baritone, Andrew has an extensive instructional background across DCI and WGI programs. He served on the Blue Knights visual staff (2015–2018), was Visual Caption Head at Phantom Regiment (2019), and has worked with the Crossmen, Oregon Crusaders, and Cap City Percussion. He holds a Bachelor’s in Music Education from The Ohio State University and a Master’s in Education from Clemson University.

“Being a Madison Scout was a life-changing experience for me,” said Desmond. “I’m thrilled to return and give back to the organization that helped me become who I am today.”

Taylor Rock – Visual Co-Caption Head

Taylor Rock is a designer and educator based in Lexington, KY, where he earned his Bachelor’s in Music Education from the University of Kentucky and an MBA from Western Governors University. A Madison Scouts alumnus (2013–2016) on tuba, Taylor is ecstatic to return to the corps in a leadership role.

Taylor’s performance and teaching background spans both brass and color guard. He performed for seven seasons with Lexis Independent Winter Guard, earning two WGI bronze medals and two World Finals appearances. His educational experience includes work with Crossmen, Lexis IW, Lafayette High School, and multiple high school programs throughout the Midwest and Southeast.

“As with every marching season, there’s a mountain of work ahead,” said Rock. “I’m incredibly excited to climb that mountain with the upcoming iteration of the Madison Scouts.”

Corps Director David Lofy added, “I’m thrilled to welcome back Blake, Andrew, and Taylor. Their commitment to excellence and the member experience has been abundantly clear through their past tenures with the corps and in our planning for the 2026 Madison Scouts.”
