Ramiro Barrera Announced as 2008 Program Coordinator

September 15, 2007 – Madison, WI - The Madison Scouts are pleased to announce that Ramiro Barrera will serve as the corps' Program Coordinator in 2008. "Ramiro's track record speaks for itself," said Executive Director Jeff Spanos. "If the best indicator of future success is previous performance, then the Madison Scouts are incredibly fortunate to have him on our team."Barrera, longtime band director at James Logan HS (CA), was program coordinator with the Blue Devils from 1992-2004, during which time BD won five DCI Championships. Throughout his 30-year career, his groups have consistently been recognized for performance and competitive success. His marching band has performed in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, the Tournament of Roses Parade & has won 7 Western Band Association Marching Band Championships. The group will also perform at the Opening Ceremonies of the 2008 Olympics in China.The Logan Wind Symphony has long been recognized for its excellence and has performed at such prestigious events as the Midwest Band & Orchestra Clinic, The Bands of America National Concert Band Festival, Edinburgh Easter International Music Festival in Scotland and, most recently, at the Disney Concert Hall, home of the Los Angeles Philharmonic.The James Logan Winterguard has been among the elite of WGI, and has won 10 consecutive championships from 1998-2007.The remainder of the 2008 design team will be announced in coming days.
