Madison Scouts Announce 2026 "Summer Camp" Marching Arts Experience at Three Wisconsin Locations

The Madison Scouts, a program of Forward Performing Arts, have announced the 2026 “Madison Scouts Summer Camp,” a series of one-day marching arts educational events for high school students and band directors to be held at three locations across Wisconsin.

The camps will take place on:

  • June 23 at St. Croix Central High School (Hammond, WI)
  • July 11 at the University of Wisconsin–Whitewater (Whitewater, WI)
  • July 24 at Vel Phillips Memorial High School (Madison, WI)

Each event is designed as a single-day training experience, offering instruction in music performance, visual technique, and leadership. The camps will conclude with an evening performance opportunity in conjunction with a scheduled drum corps event, where participants will join the Madison Scouts on the field.

New for 2026, the Madison Scouts will collaborate with guest clinicians from Wisconsin’s major university band programs. Participating educators include:

  • Dr. Corey Pompey, Associate Director of Bands at the University of Wisconsin–Madison and Director of the renowned University of Wisconsin Marching Band
  • Dr. Glenn C. Hayes, Director of Bands at the University of Wisconsin–Whitewater and head of the Warhawk Marching Band
  • Dr. Kara Metzger, Director of Athletic Bands at the University of Wisconsin–Eau Claire and head of the Blugold Marching Band

“These camps are about more than a single day,” said David Lofy, Madison Scouts director. “They are about connecting students and educators to the highest levels of the marching arts—on the field, in rehearsal, and in performance. By bringing together world-class drum corps education with leading university programs, we’re investing directly in the future of music education in the State of Wisconsin.”

The camps will feature both a student track and a band director track. Students will work with Madison Scouts instructional staff throughout the day, while directors will participate in professional development sessions led by Dr. Mark Waymire, Program Coordinator and Education Director for the Madison Scouts, as well as Dr. Corey Pompey (Madison), Dr. Glen Hayes (Whitewater), and Dr. Kara Metzger (Hammond).

Participation is open to brass, woodwinds, battery percussion, color guard, and drum majors. Tuition is set at $40 for students and $75 for directors, with registration including a meal, merchandise, and admission to the evening performance.
