Forward Performing Arts Launches Advisory Council to Support Strategic Growth Plans

Forward Performing Arts today announced the formation of its Advisory Council, a select group of leaders who will provide strategic insight and external perspective to support the continued growth of the organization and its music educational program, including the Madison Scouts Drum & Bugle Corps.

The Advisory Council has been established to offer guidance to organizational leadership on strategic initiatives, partnerships, visibility, and long-term sustainability. Members will work alongside the Executive Director, Programs Director, and the Board of Directors.

The founding Advisory Council members include:

  • Dan Acheson, former Chief Executive Officer of Drum Corps International and Madison Scouts alumnus
  • Dann Petersen, Music Engagement and Outreach Coordinator at the Mead Witter School of Music at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, former Madison Scouts Corps Director (2007–2020), Madison Scouts alumnus, and long-time instructor
  • Nick Monzi, CEO & Co-Founder of Learn Fresh, Professor at Syracuse University Falk College of Sport, former Madison Scouts instructor and staff coordinator

“These individuals bring exceptional leadership, experience, and perspective,” said Christopher Komnick, Executive Director of Forward Performing Arts. “We’ve been very intentional in assembling a small group of trusted advisors who can help us think strategically about the future. Their willingness to invest their time and insight in this role is meaningful, and it will strengthen our ability to serve our students and community.”

“I’m honored to continue supporting an organization that has meant so much to me,” said Dan Acheson. “The Madison Scouts have a strong legacy and an important role to play in the future of the activity.”

Advisory Council members will participate in a series of structured discussions with organizational leadership, along with periodic engagement with the Board of Directors. In addition to providing counsel, members will serve as ambassadors for Forward Performing Arts and the Madison Scouts, helping expand awareness and build connections that support the organization’s mission.

Forward Performing Arts exists to educate and inspire young people through music and the performing arts. Through programs including the world-renowned Madison Scouts, the organization reaches students across the country and internationally, providing transformative educational and performance experiences.
