A Special Benefit for ALS(Lou Gehrig’s Disease)

The Coliseum Bar Banquet Hall232 Olin AvenueMadison, WI 53713

April 18th, 2009Doors Open 6:30 p.m.One of the most inspired drum corps alumni events anywhere is the annual Madison Scouts “Rockin’ for a Cure,” now in its ninth year. This gathering not only brings together corps alumni and the entire family of Scouts' fans, volunteers and other supporters for a great time of music and camaraderie, the event is a benefit for ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, more commonly known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease). In 1999, former corps member and Scouts’ instructor Steve Weekes was stricken with ALS. He founded the first of the corps’ benefits on behalf of ALS research. Sadly, Steve passed away in 2005. However, his mission continues on, stronger than ever. How wonderful it is, not only to bring together alumni and supporters of the Madison Scouts, but also to raise money for such a worthwhile organization. All proceeds go to the ALS Therapy Development Institute for Augie's Quest of the Muscular Dystrophy Association.Tickets are only $20 and there will be a cash bar, lots of food and a giant silent auction with lots items for everyone, and drum corps gear donated by many corps. Prizes also include mountain bikes, etc. Commemorative t-shirts are also available for purchase. In addition, there will be jazz and R&B groups sporting the talents of notable Madison Scouts alumni to provide music for the 6-hour event! For more information, call Mike Anello at 414-483-1510 or go to www.rockinforacure.org
