Johnathon Bower is a Graduate Assistant at Eastern Michigan University, studying Music Education and Trombone Performance. He also currently enjoys teaching marching band and teaching private lessons for Plymouth-Canton Community Schools and Clio Area Schools. He enjoys being on the visual staff at the Madison Scouts Drum and Bugle Corps. His graduate research centers around trombone pedagogy used at the Paris Conservatoire during the nineteenth century.

John’s performance includes marching the Glassmen from 2009-2012. In 2017, John performed with RhythmX Winds, winning a WGI World Championship. He is an avid orchestral performer, playing in several community orchestras, pit orchestras, and the Wayne State Orchestra.

John began his teaching career as a private lesson instructor in 2009. From 2012-2016, John taught marching band and brass choir at Athens High School. At Athens, John spent two years as Assistant Director working with the Concert and Jazz bands. He has also been the Band Director at Gabriel Richard Catholic High School and Romulus Middle School. John has spent time as a visual technician and choreographer at Southgate Anderson High School, L’anse Creuse North High School, South Lyon High School, LSM Winds, Eclipse Percussion, and Divergent Performing arts.
