Front Ensemble Instructor

Hunter Mays is an active performer, educator, and student who currently resides in the Boise area. His career as a performer and educator spans numerous genres and settings: chamber music, orchestra performance, solo percussion, and the marching arts. Originally from Columbus, OH, he earned his BM in Percussion Performance from Wright State University in Dayton, OH, and is currently attending Boise State University as a Marching Band GTA with the Blue Thunder Marching Band while pursuing his MM in Percussion Performance with Dr. Kramer Milan.

As an educator, Hunter is currently on Front Ensemble Staff with the Madison Scouts Drum and Bugle Corps, Battery Staff with the BSU Blue Thunder Marching Band, teaches at Boise Gems Independent, and is a private instructor with Silent Command. Before moving to Idaho, he was formally a Front Ensemble Coordinator with Cap City Percussion and Kettering Fairmont High School. He also has managed his own private lesson studio since 2021.
