High Brass Instructor

Chris Williams is in his eighth year of teaching, serving as the Director of Bands at Destrehan High School in Destrehan, Louisiana.  He received his Bachelor’s of Music Education in 2015 as a summa cum laude graduate from Northwestern State University and his Master of Music Education from the University of Southern Mississippi in 2021.  While studying at Northwestern State University, he served as a drum major for the Spirit of Northwestern, studied trumpet under Galindo Rodriguez, and conducting under Dr. Jeff Mathews.  

Mr. Williams had been teaching actively in the drum and bugle corps activity teaching brass at the Blue Knights from 2014-2017 and Phantom Regiment from 2018-2020.  Additionally, he was a visual instructor at the Louisiana Stars in 2016. 

His professional affiliations include National Association for Music Education (NAfME), Louisiana Music Educators Association (LMEA), Louisiana Association for Jazz Education (LAJE), and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia.  In 2018, Mr. Williams received recognition as an Outstanding Young Music Educator through LMEA.  He currently serves as a member of the Arts Leadership Team in his school district developing and integrating curriculums for the instrumental music programs.
