Chris Williams is the Director of Bands at Destrehan High School in Destrehan, Louisiana. He graduated summa cum laude from Northwestern State University in 2015 with a Bachelor of Music Education and earned his Master of Music Education from the University of Southern Mississippi in 2021. As an undergraduate at Northwestern State, he served as a drum major for the Spirit of Northwestern, studied trumpet under Galindo Rodriguez, and studied conducting under Dr. Jeff Mathews.
Outside of the classroom, Chris is highly active in the marching arts. He taught brass for the Blue Knights (2014-17) Phantom Regiment (2018-20), served as a visual instructor for the Louisiana Stars (2016), and teaches the Madison Scouts (2024-present).
Chris is an active member of several professional organizations, including the National Association for Music Education (NAfME), Louisiana Music Educators Association (LMEA), Louisiana Association for Jazz Education (LAJE), and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia. Recognized as the 2018 Outstanding Young Music Educator by LMEA, he continues to shape music education in his school district as a member of the Arts Leadership Team, where he develops and integrates instrumental music curricula. Additionally, he contributes to his field statewide as a member of the LMEA State Advocacy Committee and serves as the webmaster for LMEA District VII.
Outside of music, Chris is a fitness enthusiast who focuses on powerlifting and has led Les Mills group fitness classes since 2018 at Anytime Fitness Destrehan, which was recognized as the #1 Anytime Fitness in North America in 2024.
