Alex “Scoot” Huizen is a cymbal educator from Cincinnati, Ohio. Along with the Madison Scouts, he also serves as a cymbal instructor for the indoor percussion ensemble Rhythm X.
Alex began his marching career in 2009 with the Jenison High School Marching Band. He has performed with Genesis Percussion, Rhythm X, and the Madison Scouts. Alex returned to Genesis Percussion in 2018 to teach the cymbal line and would go on to work with the Colts Drum & Bugle Corps and Rhythm X. He instructed the Madison Scouts Cymbal Line from 2020-2022, and consulted for the line in 2024.Alex has been involved in several cymbal educational clinics, most notably at PASIC as a performer with Rhythm X, a clinician for Seavine, and most recently as a Sabian artist. He graduated from Michigan State University in 2020 with a M.A. in Environmental Design and works full-time as a playground designer.
