About Madison Scouts Indoor

Madison Scouts Indoor is a newly formed WGI percussion ensemble based out of Southwest Ohio. The program is led by Madison Scouts Front Ensemble Arranger, Matt Hahn and Battery Arranger, Ryan Ellis.

Audition Process

Join us for our inaugural season!

How to Audition

Choose to submit a video or attend one of our in-person screenings.

Video Screening

If you cannot attend in-person auditions, you can submit a video to be considered for a spot in the ensemble. Please submit your video by October 22nd to abigailhermesch@gmail.com.

In-Person Auditions

In-person audition dates:
October 10th, 2021, 10:00am - 5:00pm
October 24th, 2021, 10:00am - 5:00pm
Note: You do not need to submit a video screening to attend the in-person auditions.

weekend rehearsals and shows in and around Southwest Ohio.

Tuition & Payment Plan

In addition to the instruction and show production from our educational and design team, tuition underwrites rehearsal facility access, equipment use, music licensing, and costuming. It does not include transportation, food, or lodging.

All 2022 auditionees will purchase the "Audition Packet & Screeing Fee". This allows prospective members the opportunity to audition for both Madison Scouts Indoor Percussion group and the Madison Scouts Drum & Bugle Corps.

Leading the Team

Alex Huizen

Cymbal Instructor

Alex has been a cymbal instructor for Genesis Percussion and the Colts Drum and Bugle Corps and is currently teaching at Rhythm X. Alex has performed with programs including Genesis Percussion (2014), Rhythm X (2015-2017), and the Madison Scouts Drum and Bugle Corps (2015-2016). He currently lives in Cincinnati and works as a landscape designer.

Matt Hahn

Front Ensemble Arranger

Matt Hahn is an active designer and percussion educator in the Dayton, OH area. Matt is currently the Front Ensemble and Sound Designer for the Madison Scouts Drum And Bugle Corps. In 2012, Matt founded Resonant Music Design, a company specializing in marching arts design and education of all kinds.

Ryan Ellis

Battery Arranger

Ryan Ellis is an active music educator in the Cincinnati area and has performed with such ensembles as Rhythm X, Blue Devils, Bluecoats, and the Spirit of Atlanta.

Noah Bellamy

Visual Designer

Noah currently lives in Canton, MI where he is the visual designer and consultant for the Plymouth-Canton Educational Park Marching Band. After marching with the Cavaliers in 1996, Noah went on to teach visual performance at Centerville High School.

Joshua Wendt

Visual Designer

Joshua has served marching bands and drum corps in various capacities for the last 10 years. He currently instructs, designs, and choreographs for a plethora of programs around the country including multiple BOA Grand National Finalists. Joshua has worked with Phantom Regiment and Carolina Crown both as a choreographer for the horn line as well as a member of the visual team.

Jason Robb

Program Consultant

Jason Robb is a freelance drill writer, pageantry designer, and educational consultant living in the suburbs north of Austin, Texas with his wife Jackie and son Joseph. He received his Bachelor of Music in Education and Trumpet Performance from Sam Houston State University in Houston, Texas.

Aaron Tucker

Audio Systems Designer/Technician

Aaron Tucker is a freelance percussion educator, designer, and audio specialist living in Fort Worth, Texas. He studied Percussion with an emphasis in Jazz Performance at East Carolina University. In 2002, he had the opportunity to march with the Magic of Orlando Drum and Bugle corps, winning a division 2 world championship, and going on to place in finals in division 1 (now known as World Class).

What’s a Rich Text element?

The rich text element allows you to create and format headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, images, and video all in one place instead of having to add and format them individually. Just double-click and easily create content.

Static and dynamic content editing

A rich text element can be used with static or dynamic content. For static content, just drop it into any page and begin editing. For dynamic content, add a rich text field to any collection and then connect a rich text element to that field in the settings panel. Voila!

How to customize formatting for each rich text

Headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, figures, images, and figure captions can all be styled after a class is added to the rich text element using the "When inside of" nested selector system.

Yates McLaughlin

Snare Instructor

Yates McLaughlin first got involved with the marching arts in 2014 as a snare drummer at Normal Community High School, based out of Bloomington-Normal, IL. His first experience in the professional marching arts was in 2017 with the Colt Cadets Drum and Bugle Corps, followed by a season of WGI with Cavaliers Indoor Percussion in 2018.

Rachel Martin

Front Ensemble Instructor

Rachel Martin is currently the band director at North Clay Middle School located in Brazil, Indiana.

She has been a fixture in the East Coast marching arts scene.

Sam Wright

Tenor Instructor

Sam graduated from Center Grove HS in 2014 and earned his Bachelor’s of Arts in Communications from Indiana University Purdue University of Indianapolis (IUPUI) in 2018. His performance experience includes Jersey Surf 2014, Madison Scouts 2015, Blue Stars 2016-2017, Redline Percussion 2015, and Rhythm X 2016-2018.

Blake Koschmider is a percussion educator and performer from Lansing, MI who has spent the past 5 years teaching various music programs around the state.

Amy Matias

Front Ensemble Instructor

Amy is an educator living in Dayton, OH with her Fiancé and her dog. She received her B.A. in Education from the University of Michigan and her M.A. in Behavior Analysis from the University of Cincinnati.

Eric Zielsdorf

Front Ensemble Instructor

As a performer and educator, Eric Zielsdorf continues to push the boundaries of music for the

percussion community. The Kenosha, Wisconsin native has held several high school percussion

teaching positions across the state, providing opportunities for students to learn lifelong skills

while enhancing their musical abilities.
