RJ Schaefer is a composer, educator, and performer based in the Cincinnati/Dayton area. He is a recent graduate of Miami University in Oxford, Ohio with a B.A. in Music, a Co-Major in Arts Management, and minors in Music Composition and Percussion Performance. RJ has been an active percussion educator and arranger at multiple high schools including Fairfield, Hamilton, and Colerain. In addition to this group instruction, RJ also teaches privately on the subjects of marching percussion, drum set, and music composition. RJ's marching experience includes Cap City Percussion (2019), the Madison Scouts Drum & Bugle Corps (2019), The Cavaliers (2020-2021), and Rhythm X (2022). Notable pedagogues RJ has studied under include Michael LaMattina, Derrick Shannon, Michael McIntosh, Scott Simon, Russel Wharton, and Dean Hickman.
